Ive posted a lot of really heavy stuff lately. I think this blog will probably have a lot of that. But I also want to post some fun stuff.
My latest thing I'm doing is makeup. I was raised without makeup, skin care, hair care or styling (or even cutting or trimming), etc. My mom wouldnt even let me shave until I was 11 and the hair on my legs was long enough to cut with sissors.
So I finally started painting my nails in 2016 after the birth of my 2nd son. Then, after the birth of my daughter, I started getting into makeup - mainly because I want her to be able to try it as she gets older if she wants to and I dont want to be completely lost trying to show her stuff. Well, in trying to learn about makeup I've actually come to find that I like it!
Who knew?
I'm not crazy about like a lot of foundation or dark eye shadows. But I love light, shimmery eye shadow, and lipsticks, and I'm really into skin care.
A lady in my church sells Mary Kay and invited me for a skin care session - I didn't want to do it (social anxiety from how I was raised.....) but my husband insisted that I go and have fun.
Well, I did have fun and the sweet lady was so kind and patient and didn't even care that I didn't buy one thing from her that day (my husband was still working at his 7-4 job and I literally had like $12 in the bank that day).
I go soon for my color appointment and am actually getting excited about it this time.
I'm finding I like a more natural look with makeup. I dont mind my skin and all its imperfections, but I do like a little color and eye shadow is just so fun to use!
I'm finding that I love Mary Kay and just the whole community around it (not that Id ever sell it - I am definitly not a saleswoman). I like that its an older company, they seem to be more Christian based, and the makeup seems to be really good (I must have sensitive skin because other makeup I've tried has broke me out or given me hives....).
Another thing I really love is perfume. But my husband has pretty bad asthma so I have to be careful what I use or he'll cough till he pukes. Enter.... Microperfumes and my door to trying $120 perfume for $2.99. This has been a game changer for me. Higher end perfumes mustnt have so many irritants in them because even the stronger ones havent caused my husband to go into a coughing fit.
I'm looking for a scent I just love and want to wear everyday. I want a perfume thats mine and when I'm dead and gone and my kids get a hint of that smell it just brings back all kinds of memories of Mama and they can feel my hugs again and hear my voice.
And dont tell me smell cant do that.......
